Vinyl sheet pile has earned its place on residential canals: it will not rust, rot, or feed marine borers, and its interlocking panels form a continuous barrier against the soil loss that undoes older walls. This project put that system to work replacing a wall that had reached the end of its service life.
The challenge
Canal work happens in close quarters. The new wall had to go in along an occupied, landscaped shoreline with neighbors on both sides: panels set true and interlocked watertight, on a waterway where the crew works from both the land side and the water at once.
Our solution
Our crews set and drove the interlocking vinyl panels section by section, checking alignment continuously so the finished wall runs straight and plumb from end to end. Working positions in the water let the crew guide each panel’s interlock by hand as it was driven — the kind of attention that determines whether a seawall merely stands or actually seals.
